Monster Jam

Last fall, Keith decided that the boys were old enough to enjoy a trip to Monster Jam in Indianapolis.  We decided to get the boys tickets to the show as a Christmas present, and Keith invited his brother, dad, and nephew to join them for a boys night out.

Weather wise, it turned out to be QUITE an adventure!   It’s been a rough January this year, as many of you know, and our weather this past weekend was anything but fun.  I loaded up the car with blankets and water bottles as a ‘just in case’.  The roads were slick, I-65 was a mess, and they had a L-O-N-G drive to Indianapolis!

We’re very thankful that they all made it there safely and enjoyed a fun night together!  They didn’t get home until after 11:30 PM.  Although the kids slept in the car on the way home, Alex is still very proud that this is the latest he’s ever stayed out!

(I sent Keith with the cheap, small camera so he could carry it in his pocket,
so the pictures are just so-so.)

Max’s favorite truck was covered with spikes.
It’s third from the left in the line of trucks in this photo.
Ironically, his favorite is named “Max D”.

Alex was excited to tell me that there was a driver named “Alex Blackwell”.
They thought it was fun that there was a truck named Max and a drive named Alex in the show!

Alex says that Grave Digger was his favorite truck.
(This may have something to do with the fact that we have two toy Grave Diggers at home…)

They came home just FULL of stories for me, and it was obvious that they had a great time!  We had Alex’s birthday party the next day, and he received some Monster Jam trucks and tracks from my sister Deb.  They’ve been playing with these ALL MORNING!  (Schooling has been put on hold until afternoon so that they can just enjoy the new toys.)

So now, it’s 11 AM, and I need to pull things together, warn them that play time is coming to an end, make some lunch, and then we can get started on school.  Hopefully I can pull them away from their new toys!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the girls of the family got together for dinner & chatting…but I didn’t take any pictures.  I got Jensyn to bed around 8:30, finished up some cleaning around the house, and then enjoyed watching “Call The Midwife” on Netflix until the boys arrived home safely.
